This is an enterprise level app. I'm going to showcase my work by the food donation feature here. Don't hesitate to reach out to learn more! To better understand the potential donation process for donateNYC, we conducted a mix of primary and secondary research. This effort helps identify engagement opportunities / features.
A constant back and forth meetings with the stakeholder from the initial research phase helped us to learn about the current donation practices of existing entities in the donation sector, as well as to understand the factors that can facilitate food donations.
A better way to find a product that could be apt for the target audience is through understanding how the competitors are doing currently in the market. We have gone through some existing donations product in the market to find the donation patterns, user flows and paint points faced by its customers.
Based on the interviews and market research, below are the key insights we found that are needed to be addressed for a delightful experience for food donations on both business donor and recipient agencies:
For the first round of prototype, we used the whiteboard to explore different solutions and sketch out the food donation user flows and ideas. Then we discussed with the product manager and clients. After getting feedback from them, we decided the most feasible solution for this new feature.
Donors can post material and food donation listing for the potential recipient/non-profit organizations. They can list down the donation details, including storage requirement, packaging, pick-up/drop-off options and point of contacts.
After the donation posting got approval from the admin, the system will start the matching process based on the criteria donors set up. The criteria set forth "Best-match" criteria includes category preferences, proximity, response time, and reviews. All notifications are sent in an order to each potential recipient.
To motivate both large and small businesses to donate unwanted food, a closing survey will be prompted after the appointment date is passed.
I used the Flinto app to make some motion effect to show developer about how transitions works between screens.
I designed from the beginning of conceptualizing the business requirements to the end of the visual designs for both desktop, tablet and mobile versions. The complicated structure and the intensive process made it a great experience for me. I faced many challenges such as how to build a product, how to communicate with the development team and how to be a good liaison between developers and the product team. One of the biggest challenges of the project is to understand the business requirement. This project is a government for business products, which has a different conceptual model with regular donation platforms. I have been able to leverage research and user journey mapping to understand it and successfully revamped the project, even when the tasks turning to be more and more complicated. I think to be a professional product designer, we should not just try to solve the problem, and we should think thoughtfully to feel like the users perspective.
